Clinton McKenzie (press here for all pictures) ALL FIGHTS boxrec Clinton McKenzie was born in 1955 in Clarendon, Jamaica – the eldest of seven children. The family moved to England and Clinton started boxing at the age of 12, for the next nine years representing the UK on numerous occasions as a top-ranked amateur in the Light Welterweight division. In 1976 he fought America’s ‘Sugar Ray’ Leonard in the quarter-finals of the Montreal Olympics. That same year he turned professional, becoming British and then European Champion, successfully defending this title on two occasions. As British Champion Clinton remained undefeated until his retirement from professional boxing in 1989. During that time he defended his title 16 times and won two Lonsdale Belts. In 1994, licensed by the British Boxing Board of Control as a professional manager and trainer, Clinton opened McKenzie Boxercise in Herne Hill, South London, where he has developed his own, highly effective boxing style of training suitable for both sexes and for all ages, fitness levels and capabilities. He works at the gym seven days a week, offering one-on-one training and tailor-made fitness programmes to an ever-growing membership base.
